Boys and Girls Club of Troy
​Troy, Michigan
A multi-function facility located between a public park and an elementary school. The new Club includes an Arts and Crafts room, Teen Center, Game Room and Technology / Learning center as well as a Gymnasium/Multi-Use Room for the children to play sports. The plan incorporates an open center area which receives natural light from skylights. Each room is then located off this center area to provide a comfortable and relaxed setting for the children. Gillett Associates was also asked to review and apply LEED objectives to the program.
Michigan Collegiate Academy
Warren, Michigan

Gillett Associates designed this charter school for 500 middle and high school students. Features include art and science labs, full-size gymnasium with seating for 500, 300 seat cafetorium, a media center, library, classrooms and administrative and support spaces. The facade consists of colored and split face c.m.u., punched windows and glass block at the gymnasium. Future plans for the school include sports fields and an auditorium.
New Morning School
Plymouth, Michigan

Gillett Associates was selected to provide a new gymnasium with storage and additional classrooms, library and toilet facilities with barrier free access for a private non-sectarian school. Some features of the new addition include using large windows in the gym area to bring light into the space, the use of fiber cement siding in a nonresidential type use and incorporating the various building materials and elements around a pre-engineered structure. Design challenges included creating a uniform building that did not appear as though it was several additions through the use of complementary materials.
