Gillett Associates

Gillett Associates was hired to design a 500,000 s.f. Office and Research Division building for AlliedSignal's Commercial Avionics Systems. AlliedSignal was consolidating parts of its business into one facility for ease of operation. The two story Office area occupies 141,000 s.f. of space and includes such features as a 2 story Lobby with split faced block elevator shafts, a full service Kitchen and Cafeteria, Training Rooms, Medical Exam and treatment areas, Fitness and Aerobics rooms, and a raised floor data center. The research portion of the building has 337,000 s.f. and contains a Machine Shop, Environmental Testing, Calibration Lab, Navigational Software and Hazardous Material storage areas. These areas provide for some dramatic views of the surrounding landscape, especially in the Cafeteria. Ribbon windows are incorporated into the siding and provide generous amounts of natural light into the space.
